identity theory of mind

identity theory of mind
The theory that mental events are identical with physical events, more commonly called physicalism . Historically identity philosophy, associated with Schelling, held that spirit and nature are fundamentally the same, both being aspects of the absolute. More generally any monism is the expression of the identity of what may seem to be many different kinds of thing.
