speckled hen example

speckled hen example
An example used to cause problems for theories analysing perception in terms of sense data . If perception is thought of as producing an internal mental ‘picture’ of the external world, then an internal image of a speckled hen should contain a definite number or configuration of speckles, just as a photograph would. But, according to the argument, experience involves no such precision.
