Zeno of Citium
(c. 334–262 BC)
The founder of Stoicism, Zeno was a Phoenician born on Cyprus, originally a pupil of Crates the Cynic . He turned to Socratic philosophy, and gradually evolved the unified metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics that make up the Stoical system.
