Sadducism

Sadducism
(or Sadduceeism )
The Sadducees were a Jewish sect of the time of Christ, who denied the resurrection of the body and the existence of spirits. In the 17th century the term was used by the orthodox of those who denied the existence of ghosts, witches, etc., and who were therefore on the dangerous road to atheism. See also Glanvill.
